SGL Carbon to Appeal 27.75 Million Euro Fine

SGL Carbon intend to lodge a second appeal against the European Commission fine of 27.75 million Euro fine imposed on them following an investigation into the graphite industry.

The investigations which have been ongoing since 1997 involved the graphite industry and those involved with the supply of specialty graphite and resulted in fines being issues in the area of graphite electrodes back in 2001.

While no new facts are available, SGL Carbon will argue that the fines are unjustified on the grounds of fines already handed down and the fact that the new fines involve the same events during the same period of time.
