Xstrata Complete Acquisition of Nordenham Zinc Smelter

Following the announcement of its intention to acquire the Nordenham Zinc Smelter from Metaleurop, announced on December 12, 2002, Xstrata have successfully completed all necessary requirements and have concluded the transaction.

The sale cost Xstrata US$100 million, with the zinc smelter being acquired via its subsidiary Asturiana de Zinc SA.
