GE announced that it has joined the Board of the Electric Drive Transportation Association (EDTA). With a broad portfolio of advanced technologies and material solutions, GE has a unique perspective on the global transportation industry. As a board member, GE will aid the EDTA in the promotion of electric and hybrid electric drives as the best means to achieve the highly efficient and clean use of secure energy in the transportation sector.
GE joins a diverse EDTA membership that includes several other utilities, including the New York Power Authority, Sacramento Municipal Utility District, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, and Long Island Power Authority, as well as major automotive and other manufacturers, government agencies, universities, and technology developers.
We are delighted to join the Board of the EDTA. GE continues to play a leadership role in the increasing efforts to find cleaner forms of transportation through the development of ecomagination* portfolio of solutions, notes Tim Dummer, global market director, GE Industrial Automotive. Through the development of advanced technologies and the commercialization of new ecomagination products, including the recent launch of new platform of Valox iQ* resins, we are helping automotive manufacturers better meet their goals around environmental sustainability. We look forward to working even more closely with government and industry, through our EDTA membership, to define policy, set strategic direction, and commercialize new technologies that will benefit business and the environment."
Consumers and policymakers increasingly understand that electric drive technologies are critically important to the national effort to reduce oil use and increase the sustainability of vehicles, says EDTA president Brian P. Wynne. We are pleased to welcome GE as a member and we look forward to working together to transform transportation with electric drive.
