Merger of American Steel Societies Approved by Members

The American Iron and Steel Institute’s merger with the Iron and Steel Society has been overwhelmingly approved by members of both organisations.

Both organisations held meetings to vote on the merger, with 97.7% of AISE members approving the merger, and 98.7% of ISS members voting for it to go ahead.

The approval by both memberships paves the way for the formation of the merged group, which will be known as the Association for Iron and Steel Technology, or AIST. They hope to be operating in their new guise by January 1, 2004.
