Physical Vapour Deposition ( PVD ) Coating for Plastics’ Extrusion Dies

AZoM - metals, ceramics, polymers and composites : Physical Vapour Deposition ( PVD ) Coating for Plastics’ Extrusion Dies

Wallwork-Tecvac have introduced CALI-COAT, a new PVD duplex coating exclusively developed for the extrusion of plastics, and particularly designed for window frame extrusion.

The coating is typically 20 microns thick and can be applied to both brass and steel tooling. Once applied the tool life can be extended by up to six times.

The coating follows the tool geometry perfectly, maintaining polished finishes and reducing surface friction while increasing the surface hardness by up to 2000 Hv.

Its’ very high adhesion eliminates flaking and gives excellent wear resistance against harsh plastics fillers.
