Introduction

Copper alloys come in more than 400 variations. UNS C99500 alloy is a copper casting alloy. 

It's composed of 87.9% Copper (Cu), 4.5% Nickel (Ni), 4% Iron (Fe), 1.2% Aluminum (Al), 1.2% Silicon (Si), and 1.2% Zinc (Zn). This alloy is often used in mining equipment gears, valve stems, electrical parts and propeller wheels.

Heat Treatment

UNS C99500 alloy has stress relieving temperature of 316°C (600°F). This alloys responds to heat treatment. The time at temperature for this alloy is one hour per inch of section thickness. The solution heat treating temperature is 885°C (1625°F). The time at temperature is one hour per inch of section thickness. The temperature for precipitation hardening is 482°C (900°F). The time at temperature is one hour.

Applications

UNS C99500 alloy is used in mining equipment gears, valve stems, electrical parts, propeller wheels, marine parts and components that need resistance to dealuminification and dezincifications.
