Highly Dispersible Silica from Rhodia Enhances Energy Efficiency of Passenger Vehicle Tires

The highly dispersible silica from Rhodia has been utilized increasingly in the tires of the passenger vehicles globally to enhance the rolling resistance on road surfaces up to 25%. This silica offers better vehicle gas mileage of up to 7% and the emissions are less with no wear of tires, grip or traction on wet surfaces. Currently, this highly dispersible silica when applied in non-tread regions enhances the performance of tires.

Dow Chemical Announces New Ethylene Production Plant Construction in Texas

The Dow Chemical Company has reported that it will build a new ethylene production facility at Dow Texas Operations located in Freeport, Texas. This plant will be constructed as a part of the company’s comprehensive plan, which was declared previously that will enable linking of its U.S. operations together with cost-advantaged feedstocks available due to increasing US shale gas supply.

Praxair Mexico Inks Gas Supply Agreement with Deacero

Praxair Mexico, a subsidiary of Praxair, has announced that the company has inked a new agreement with Deacero, a steel company in Mexico. According to the contract, the company will provide argon, oxygen and nitrogen to a new facility.

Electric Prototype Racing Car Utilizes Flax-Reinforced and Recycled Composites

Umeco has collaboratively developed flax reinforced composites and recycled composites. The parts for the prototype racing car, the Lola-Drayson B12/69EV, which is an all-electric vehicle have been manufactured using these products. The racing car is set for participation in the FIA Formula E World Championship Series.
