The compact UV-2600/2700 from Shimadzu is a universal, research-grade spectrophotometer that can be used in a wide variety of fields, and easily expanded to match the measurement objective.
By using the optional integrating sphere, the measurement wavelength range of the UV-2600 can be stretched to the near-infrared region of 1400 nm. The UV-2700 can handle 8-Abs measurements, and is ideal for measuring low transmittance samples.
Validation software is made available as standard for both instruments, so equipment performance can be easily verified in daily inspections and when data accuracy becomes an issue concern.
Single Monochromator UV-2600
Enables Near-Infrared Measurements
By fitting the ISR-2600Plus two-detector integrating sphere, the 300 nm to 1100 nm wavelength range of conventional models can be stretched to 1400 nm.
Consequently, the UV-2600 can handle measurements of polycrystalline silicon wafers and solar cell anti-reflective films.

Transmission Measurements of Polycrystalline Silicon Using the ISR-2600Plus
This is a transmission measurement of polycrystalline silicon. Since the system can measure up to 1400 nm, the transmission features of the band gap region (near 1000 nm) are plainly evident.

Relative Diffuse Reflection Measurements of an Anti-Reflective Film Using the ISR-2600Plus
This is a reflection measurement of an anti-reflective film. With relative reflection measurements, the system is capable of measuring from the UV region up to the near-infrared region, so the suppressed reflectance in the visible region is unmistakably evident.

Double Monochromator UV-2700
Capable of 8-Abs Measurements
With the capability to perform exact transmittance measurements to 0.000001 %( 1 part in 100 million), the UV-2700 can be applied to assessing the transmission features of polarization films. Furthermore, even high-concentration samples can be measured without diluting, adding to savings in power use.
The figure illustrates the relationship between the absorbance and the concentration of an aqueous potassium permanganate solution.
Good linearity is apparent to 8 Abs.

Spectral Comparison of Aqueous Potassium Permanganate Solutions
This spectrum is measured from an aqueous potassium permanganate (KMnO4) solution. In contrast to conventional models, this system is capable of high-level absorbance measurements.

Shimadzu's proprietary Lo-Ray-Ligh diffraction grating facilitates the high precision of the UV-2700. In the diffraction grating production process, new proprietary manufacturing techniques have been created for Shimadzu's holographic technology. By enhancing the etching process, Shimadzu has successfully manufactured very low stray light diffraction gratings while preserving high efficiency. With this newly designed optical system fitted with a double Lo-Ray-Light monochromator, the UV-2700 realizes unmatched ultra-low stray light levels.

Even More Compact and User-Friendly
Reduced Size and Power Consumption
The installation space necessary for this system has been decreased by around 28 % in comparison to conventional models*, as a result of a brand new compact design. Furthermore, the cooling fan is built into the side of the unit, so that it can be pushed back close to the wall. By positioning in contact with the wall, limited bench space can be more effectively used. Additionally, power consumption has been decreased to 170 VA, a 10 % energy savings which makes the system more environmentally friendly.

Validation Software Provided as Standard to Support GLP/GMP
Validation software helps with equipment performance checks and the logging of such checks. By adding it as standard with the UV-2600/2700, easier instrument checks can be accomplished. Equipment performance can be easily verified in daily inspections and when data correctness becomes a concern.

- Inspection results can be printed as well as saved to a file, with results that can be accessed later for confirmation
- Inspection conditions for each periodic and regular inspection can be saved as a file, and then called up for use

Equipment performance can be checked as stated by the performance indication standards specified in JIS K0115 "General rules for molecular absorptiometric analysis," as well as to Japanese Pharmacopoeia general test approaches or various USP and EP inspection techniques. (Inspection tools and reagents must be prepared individually.)

Multifunctional, User-Friendly UVProbe Software
The UVProbe is an all-in-one software package fitted with several functions to enable easy analysis from measurement to reporting. Furthermore, functions for supporting GLP/GMP, such as audit trail and security functions, have been improved.
