Researchers Determine Some Order in NiFeCrCo-Based High Entropy Alloys

Researchers from North Carolina State University (NC State) have found out that electron spin brings some sort of order to high entropy alloys. They have determined that an unknown degree of order, which was not known before, was brought about by electron spin to nickel iron chromium cobalt (NiFeCrCo) high entropy alloy. This spin could contribute to the remarkable properties demonstrated by this alloy.

Carbon Nanotube Film Holds Promise for Creating Composites for Use in Aircraft Manufacture

MIT aerospace engineers have successfully designed a carbon nanotube(CNT) film that is capable of heating and solidifying a composite without requiring large ovens. The heated film causes solidification of the polymer, when electric power is supplied and it is wrapped over a multilayer polymer composite.

Carbon-Based, Metal-Free, Bifunctional Electrocatalyst for Rechargeable Zinc-Air Batteries

Researchers from the Case Western Reserve University and the University of North Texas have created a metal-free bifunctional electrocatalyst that could be used for rechargeable zinc-air batteries. They consider it to be the first electrocatalyst that is equivalent or better in performance to most electrodes made of metals and metal oxides in zinc-air batteries.
