AR, NASA Complete First Hot-Fire Tests on 3D Printed Engine Components

NASA recently partnered with AR and successfully completed the initial hot-fire tests using copper alloy materials on a thrust chamber assembly of an advanced rocket engine. The Game Changing Development Program in the Space Technology and Mission Directorate of NASA has been investing actively in 3D printing research and has co-funded a test series with Aerojet Rocketdyne (AR) at the Glenn Research Center. Additive manufacturing or 3D printing is increasing in popularity and is transforming the cost, speed and flexibility of building and designing future machines for earth and space applications.

Rigaku Announces New Method for Analyzing Lube Oils

Applied Rigaku Technologies, Inc. today announced a new method for analyzing lube oils that demonstrates the capabilities of the advanced, high-resolution Rigaku NEX QC+ EDXRF benchtop analyzer. The new method, presented in Rigaku Application Note #1312, describes the effective measurement of phosphorus (P), sulfur (S), calcium (Ca), and zinc (Zn) in lube oil in compliance with ASTM D6481, a standard test method for measuring lube oil, using energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) spectrometry.
