Sumitomo Transfer Flocculants Business to Mitsui

As part of their policy of "selection and concentration", Sumitomo Chemicals are to transfer ownership of their flocculants business to Mitsui Chemicals Aquapolymer. The transfer is due for completion by March 31, 2004.

The move will allow them to free up management in the fine chemicals sectors for use in furthering the advancement of their Synthetic Specialty Chemicals Business based on advanced organic synthesis technology.

Sumitomo’s subsidiary Sumika Alchem will continue to distribute flocculants for Mitsui Chemicals Aquapolymer after the transfer of ownership of the flocculants business has taken place.
