Lion Air has selected Goodrich Corporation to supply wheels and carbon brakes for the addition of Boeing 737-900ER aircraft to its fleet. Lion Air is the launch customer for the 737-900ER and has a firm order for 100 aircraft. Deliveries are expected to begin this year and will continue through 2010.
According to Goodrich's Brian Brandewie, President Aircraft Wheels and Brakes, "This selection represents the first customer to be equipped with our new wheels and carbon brakes for the 737NG series of aircraft. We're proud to be part of this industry first as Lion Air is also the first airline to fly the 737-900ER. We appreciate the confidence that Lion Air has demonstrated in Goodrich by selecting us to support their new fleet of aircraft."
"Goodrich's unique product offering provides Lion Air with the flexibility to select the product that provides maximum value, while minimizing our operating costs," stated Rusdi Karana, Managing Director of Lion Airlines.
Goodrich is the only supplier certified to offer a steel brake or lightweight carbon brake option for the 737NG series of aircraft. The Goodrich carbon brake option utilizes service-proven DURACARB(R) carbon heat sink material, which has an industry reputation for reliable service and long brake life.
