Cree to Buy GaN Substrate and Epitaxy Business from ATMI

Cree have entered into a definitive agreement to purchase the gallium nitride (GaN) substrate and epitaxy business of Advanced Technology Materials, Inc, a wholly owned subsidiary of ATMI.

The purchase will include assets, intellectual property, fixed assets and inventory. Cree will pay cash to acquire these items and expect the deal to close by the end of June.

The gallium nitride intellectual property included in this purchase will compliment the silicon carbide and gallium nitride business that Cree have already established.
