Global Advance Display Producer Speaks Out on Next Generation of LCD Display

Corning Incorporated will present its perspective on what's next in advanced display during Display Week 2008, the annual conference of the Society for Information Display (SID), held this week in Los Angeles, Calif.

Corning has built its leadership position in liquid crystal display (LCD) by identifying existing and emerging technology market demands and translating those into powerful technology solutions that help shape the future of the display industry.

Lisa Ferrero, vice president and deputy general manager of Corning Display Technologies will address business leaders today, May 19, 2008, in a keynote address at the SID Business Conference. In her remarks, Ferrero will discuss Corning's proactive approach to product and process development and intimate customer collaboration. "Customers look to Corning as their supplier for high-technology glass because the advantages we bring to the market extend well beyond the glass itself," Ferrero will tell attendees. "This is the reason Corning has remained at the forefront of display since the industry's inception."

As a leader in the science and technology of advanced display, Corning will continue to play a role in the next generation of displays. Visitors to the Corning booth #635 at SID and those attending Corning presentations can experience the latest in market trends and learn more about a number of emerging display technologies that demonstrate the depth and breadth of Corning's expertise and long-standing history in the industry, including:

* EAGLE XG™ Glass – Corning's environmentally friendly EAGLE XG™ glass is the first and only LCD substrate containing no added arsenic, antinomy, barium or halides.
* Jade™ Advanced Display Glass – Corning recently introduced Jade glass for advanced display. Jade is a fusion-formed glass substrate with high thermal stability. The glass is uniquely designed as a platform for LTPS-LCD and organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays, to address the multi-function, feature-rich mobile device market.
* Vita™ Hermetic Sealing Solution – Vita is a hermetic sealing solution for OLED manufacture. This glass-based approach offers an impermeable seal, increasing the lifespan of OLEDs by locking out air and moisture.
* Gorilla™ Glass – Gorilla glass is a new thin-sheet glass designed such that, upon chemical strengthening, it provides device manufacturers with a highly durable, scratch-resistant LCD display cover. It offers added protection for personal electronic devices and is especially valuable for those featuring touch-screen technologies.
* Green Laser Technology – With its green laser technology, Corning is enabling consumers to explore the possibilities of mobile, impromptu displays where the size of the image is no longer limited by the size of the device. Corning's green laser G-1000 device achieves high efficiency in a compact form with excellent beam quality and high bandwidth.
* Silicon-on-Glass Technology – Corning's silicon-on-glass (SiOG) technology augments display substrate glass with a single-crystal semiconductor film of the highest possible electronic uniformity and mobility. It enables advanced on-panel circuit integration and serves as an excellent backplane for OLED mobile displays and other devices.
