Specializing in high-end composites, Gurit is also one of the leading material suppliers for aircraft interiors applications. Gurit has a long-standing relationship with EADS and Airbus, supplying a broad range of extremely stable, fire retardant and at the same time ultra-light-weight materials. These materials are primarily used for the interior furbishing of the complete range of Airbus aircrafts.
Four of the five A380 developmental aircraft flew a formation flight over southwestern France and the Mediterranean Sea on 30 August.
EADS and Airbus on one side and Gurit on the other have now signed a new 4-year cooperation agreement covering the calendar years 2008 to 2011: Based on this contract, Gurit will supply a variety of materials for the complete range of Airbus aircraft models worth approximately CHF 200 million. The shipments include growing volumes of materials used for the Airbus A380 plane, for which a number of new Gurit materials were specifically qualified.
The products will be manufactured at Gurit (Zullwil) AG, Switzerland, and Gurit (Kassel) GmbH, Germany. EADS and Airbus together, rank among the top three customers in the client portfolio of Gurit.
