Romanian Aluminium Processor Commissions New Cold Rolling Mill

Vimetco NV, the global producer of primary and processed aluminium products, today announces the commissioning of Alro’s Cold Rolling Mill in Slatina, Romania, following a USD 4.8 million investment to modernise the unit.

The enhancements to the mill, which were implemented in association with FATA Hunter, will double the mill’s processing capacity to 36,000tpa and also improve the quality of flat rolled products such as sheets and coils, meaning the facility’s performance will rank amongst the highest of modern mills in operation.

The mill is now under the full control of Alro’s operators and engineers following successful system checks and demonstration of performance parameters. It has been running at full capacity since the end of April.

Gheorghe Dobra, General Manager, Alro SA, said:

“The revamping of the cold rolling mill marks an important step in increasing the capacity of our flat rolled products operations in Slatina, Romania. The partnership with FATA Hunter has been extremely productive and we look forward to seeing the positive results of the upgrades in due course.”
