Dow Set to Increase Production Capacity of its High Temperature Heat Transfer Fluids

The superior performance of one of its high temperature heat transfer fluids over another is leading the Dow Performance Fluids business to increase the manufacturing capacity of its DOWTHERM™ RP Heat Transfer Fluid and suspend the sales of DOWTHERM™ HT Fluid.

The new capacity results from moving production of DOWTHERM™ RP Fluid from Midland, Mich., to a larger facility in Houston, Texas, and will provide the needed supply for heat transfer systems in plastics and fiber manufacturing and other chemical production.

All existing DOWTHERM™ HT Fluid users can substitute DOWTHERM™ RP Fluid and immediately experience improved performance. Those who use other high temperature, low pressure fluids can also use DOWTHERM™ RP Fluid for top off or to completely refill their systems.

DOWTHERM™ RP Heat Transfer Fluid is intended for use in applications that require liquid phase heat transfer with very low vapor pressure at very high temperature. DOWTHERM™ RP Fluid can be used at a maximum bulk temperature of 350 degrees Celsius (660 degrees Fahrenheit) with excellent thermal stability.
