Organized by AITEX, the leading Textile and Clothing Research Centre in Spain, the second international congress on “Competitiveness and Technological Innovation in the Textile Sector” will be held in the city of Alcoy (Alicante) on the 5-6 November, 2008.
Following-up the enormous success of last year’s congress, AITEX is now going international to organise its second edition. Researchers, scientist, commercial and marketing personnel, technicians, and many prestigious professionals from Europe will present and debate during a couple of days about the latest innovations in the textile sector. The first day will be dedicated to recent developments, case studies and projects to improve competitiveness in small and medium enterprises. The second day will be exclusively devoted to research and development with a special focus on the newest advancements in the fields of nano and biotechnology applied to textiles.
More than one hundred companies and research centres attended the first edition of this congress. However, the expectations for November’s gathering are even higher hoping that the use of simultaneous translation will encourage a wider international audience and a larger number of speakers to participate. In words of AITEX’s director, Vicente Blanes, the congress will help “to bring together the brightest minds in the world of textiles, which will surely inspire everybody to try even harder to innovate in both their R&D capabilities and their business management approach”.
AITEX is now looking for participants to share their experiences and developments in the textile industry as speakers in any of the seven different thematic sessions or contributing with a poster to be displayed. The call for papers is open and just the title and the abstract are required for registration. AITEX will cover the accommodation expenses of those presenting their work. They are also planning some parallel activities to get to know the city of Alcoy and its surroundings.
