New Roofing Underlay Product from Techtex

Techtex, the fastest growing privately-owned non woven textile company in the UK, has launched a new product called 'Weathertight Durable Roof Underlay.'

Based in Manchester, in the UK Techtex has launched the under slate and tile roofing insulation material for use on most types of ventilated cold or warm pitched roofs.

'Weathertight Durable Roof Underlay' is a composite impermeable membrane that is laid under slate and tile roofs to provide pitched roof insulation. The BBA - The British Board of Agrément - has certified the product for unrestricted use in the UK designating it fit-for-purpose in all British weather conditions. The NHBC accepts the use of 'Weathertight Durable Roof Underlay' when used in accordance with the BBA Certificate.

'Weathertight Durable Roof Underlay' protects against the ingress of wind-blown rain and snow. The company says that the product offers protection during construction and then during the life of the building.

Its features include: lightweight and easy to handle, bitumen free, nail-tear strength, and is marked with 150mm lap lines for accurate and easy installation.

It also provides temporary 'weathertight' protection for up to three months prior to the fitting of roof materials such as slates or roof tiles.

David Beardsworth, Director of Techtex, said: "Although the construction industry is facing a difficult period at the moment, it is a huge industry and we want to be a major player in it.

"This product is relevant to house builders and local authorities. It offers an added level of protection against water ingress on roofs particularly in windy parts of the country and so is generally a better product to use on cold and warm pitched roofs.

"We believe it is one of the best felt roofing systems on the market."
