Epitaxial Processing System Help Maximize Wafer Capacity for Photovoltaic Cell Production

CSD Epitaxy, Inc. (CSD Epitaxy), a global provider of epitaxial processing equipment, announced the recent delivery of the first EpiPro(tm) 5000-IG production system to GlobiTech Corporation, a leading global supplier of power semiconductor solutions based in Sherman, Texas. The EpiPro 5000-IG was designed to maximize wafer capacity throughput when depositing thicker films for IGBT devices, solar/photovoltaic cells, and a variety of semiconductor devices.

"GlobiTech continues its mission of producing a wide array of epitaxial wafers for end users on a global basis," said Rick Boston, Vice President of Operations. "Our customer applications span the semiconductor industry from analog to power devices including those devices used widely in the rapidly growing solar and electric car industry for the Green technology revolution. As the market demands of our customers change GlobiTech seeks out the best solutions. By working in collaboration with CSD Epitaxy over the years, EpiPro 5000-IG was jointly developed to meet our changing production needs and complement the standard EpiPro 5000 systems already in our fab."

"The capabilities of the EpiPro 5000 series has allowed CSD Epitaxy to build a strong customer base in the US, Asia, and Europe," said Andrew Goode, president of CSD Epitaxy. "The development of EpiPro 5000-IG gives new processing capability for the next generation of devices that require film thicknesses that range from 50 -150 microns. More applications are coming on-line that require thick films with high uniformity and low cost per wafer. The EpiPro 5000-IG has the features and processing capability to meet an expanding market. The recently introduced EpiPro 8000 will also be available in the IG version for 200 mm automatic loading applications."
