Polycarbonate, Glass and Stainless Steel Allow Amateurs to Take on Jacques Cousteau

Snorkelers and surfers alike will be thrilled that Canon's WP-V1 waterproof camcorder housing will be available in Australia by the end of this month. For use with the LEGRIA HF20 and HF200 camcorders released earlier this year, the WP-V1 will allow users to capture spectacular full High Definition underwater movies to a depth of 40 metres.

Shooting beautiful High Definition footage in an underwater environment is made possible by the Underwater Mode on the HF20/HF200. This mode allows users to record videos with a natural colour palate and to capture subjects as close as 30cm to the lens window when shooting in full wide angle.

A first for Canon video, the WP-V1 makes underwater shooting simple and easy by featuring a large zoom lever for precise operation and oversized, colour-coded buttons to prevent operating errors.

The WP-V1 is designed for effortless movement underwater and as such is compact and light. The casing is constructed using polycarbonate, white plate glass and stainless steel. Double-paned glass lens window with multicoating on both sides prevents reflected light.

Key Features:

  • Watertight to depths up to 40 metres (130ft)
  • Compact and lightweight (approx. 845g)
  • Easy-to-use button controls
  • Tripod socket
  • Mounting ring for accessories (67mm filter diameter)
