Initially deemed more functional than decorative, Stair Rods made their home debut during the Victorian era. Utilized to keep Stair Runners in place, long before the advent and implementation of non-slip pads and modern carpet installation methods, Stair Rods, or Carpet Rods, as they are also commonly known, enabled homeowners to move their Stair Runners, or Carpets, to evenly distribute their wear as well as allow for their removal for cleaning, that is until the vacuum cleaner was introduced.
