Vietnam to Introduce Plastic 100,000 VND Notes

The State Bank of Vietnam announced that they will start circulating polymer-based 100,000 VND notes on September 1.

The new polymer bank notes will replace the existing cotton/paper notes currently in circulation and will compliment the existing 50,000 and 500,000 VND polymer notes that were introduced in December lat year.

The state Bank of Vietnam has moved to the polymer notes to help protect against counterfeiting, with the new notes featuring more sophisticated security features.

Production of the cotton/paper 100,000 VND bank notes has now ceased. The new polymer bank notes will work in parallel with the older style notes, which should be replaced within a year.
