During the annual General Assembly in Munich on September 9, 2009, the members of the German Flat Panel Display Forum (DFF) elected a new Board of Directors. The acting Chairman Robert Isele is confirmed in his office. Dr. Joerg Winkler takes over the position as Co-Chairman from Peter Bullen, whose term ended after four years according to schedule.
Nine delegates from industry and research are representing the entire value chain of the flat panel display industry. The two Joint-Chairmen, Robert Isele (BMW AG) and Dr. Joerg Winkler (Plansee Metall GmbH), will be supported by the longstanding board members Dr. Werner Becker (Merck KGaA), Prof. Karlheinz Blankenbach (University Pforzheim), Wolfgang Mildner (Poly IC GmbH & Co. KG), Gildas Sorin (Novaled AG) and Dr. Juergen Wahl (Optrex Europe GmbH) as well as by the newly elected board members Otto Bader (AEG Gesellschaft für moderne Informationssysteme mbH) and Hartmut Heske (Sharp Microelectronics Europe GmbH).
Robert Isele is Manager for Driver Information Concepts and Display Technologies at the BMW Group in Munich. As a leading German automotive manufacturer, BMW is representing the display end users in the DFF. In his remaining term, Isele will focus on display applications.
Dr. Joerg Winkler is responsible for product development of materials for display coating at Plansee Metall GmbH. As a manufacturer of high performance materials, Plansee represents the material and equipment suppliers in DFF. Within the Board, Dr. Winkler will concentrate his activities on display technologies. Suppliers of production equipment as well as material and components manufacturers based in Europe contribute significantly to the success of FPD technologies. However, it is a great challenge for them to accompany new developments - which usually take place in Asia - from the very beginning in order to actively shape them. "This does not only require a close collaboration with the customers in Asia but also among the suppliers themselves. This is what we want to support within DFF", says J. Winkler.
After four years in office, Peter Bullen's second term as Chairman ended according to the bylaws. At the same time, he did not run for another term as board member. On behalf of the Board, the DFF secretariat and all member companies, Robert Isele acknowledged Peter Bullen's merits and thanked him for his long-term commitment to the DFF.
