DuPont Engineering Polymers and Kolorfusion International recently formed a marketing alliance to support customers in gaining the benefits of dye sublimation printing on molded products and components. Kolorfusion has developed patented technology for dye sublimation decoration of three-dimensional objects, such as molded plastic parts. DuPont produces several kinds of engineering plastic resins suitable for the process, including DuPont™ Crastin®, DuPont™ Rynite®, DuPont™ Delrin®, and DuPont™ Zytel®.
"DuPont sees excellent potential for dye sublimation-printing of engineering plastic parts for sporting goods, power tools, appliances, consumer electronics and other kinds of products where a permanent, wear-resistant multi-color image is desired," said Ella Rabil, senior marketing specialist – DuPont Engineering Polymers.
"Because the technology causes dyes to penetrate the surface of the polymer, the imprinted images are highly resistant to wear. The dye sublimation technology will now give our customers a new way to differentiate themselves at the consumer level," she said.
Kolorfusion President Steve Nagel said: "DuPont resources and expertise is helping its customers develop and manufacture new parts and products using engineering plastics. This can help fuel the growth of dye sublimation decorating."
