The Siemens Industry Automation Division is concentrating its production of components for the process industry in the French location of Haguenau. With the construction of a new 10, 000 square meter production line facility for flowmeters, the location has been expanded to become the main mechatronic manufacturing center for process instrumentation and analysis in Europe.
"Concentrating and expanding our production competence in Haguenau is an important step in our global growth strategy in process instrumentation and analysis", explained Hans-Georg Kumpfmueller, CEO of the Business Unit Sensors and Communications on the occasion of the inauguration ceremony in Haguenau.
Up to now, Siemens manufactured in Haguenau field devices such as positioners, pressure and temperature transmitters, as well as process analysis equipment such as gas analyzers and laser spectrometers for the global market. These components form the basis for automation procedures in the process industry, for example in chemical and petrochemical plants, the production of food or the water treatment industry.
The production site in Haguenau has been expanded by 10 000 square meters up to 30 000 square meters to include facilities for the manufacture of magnetic flowmeters. In future it will be the workplace for more than 500 employees. The new production unit is equipped with state-of-the-art production and test systems, as well as with flowmeter calibration rigs for pipelines with a diameter exceeding two meters. "Modern, highly-efficient production sites make an important contribution to flexibility, short delivery times and high quality standards. In Haguenau, we have invested in cutting-edge production technologies. This both strengthens the location and sharpens our global competitiveness", Kumpfmueller commented.
