Accuride Corporation (OTCBB: ACUZ) today announced that its Fabco(TM) brand has made available freewheel locking hubs for Fabco Steerable Drive Axles. Due to improved drivetrain efficiency, this new option for Fabco axles allows severe service on / off-road vehicle customers to gain on-highway fuel economy improvements and reduced drive train wear and tear.
Freewheel hubs significantly reduce drivetrain parasitic losses in on-highway conditions by stopping internal axle and transfer case components from spinning. Fabco is the only supplier with freewheel hub capability for 10,000 through 16,000 pound steerable drive axles for use in Class 6 through 8 all wheel drive vehicles.
“Fabco has listened and responded quickly to customers’ critical need of maximum on-highway performance for demanding all wheel drive vehicles,” said Al Sunderland, Fabco’s President. “Fabco All Wheel Drive Systems have always been recognized for providing tremendous on-highway performance as well as the durability needed for extreme off road use. Freewheel Hubs enable our customers to realize benefits, that previously were only available in light 4X4 trucks, without sacrificing off highway mobility capabilities.”
Freewheel locking hubs are available as an option on Fabco FSD-Series Steerable Drive Axles. Additionally, retrofit kits are available for FSD Series and SDA-1200, SDA-1400 and SDA-1600 model axles. Installation is simple and no special tools are required.
Fabco(TM) offers the leading integrated system of all wheel drive transfer cases, steerable drive axles, split shaft power take offs and specialty gearboxes. Products are meticulously engineered taking into account decades of severe service experience in the most demanding applications.
