PinkWood Celebrates First Installation of New Flooring Product

PinkWood Ltd. (PinkWood) officially launched today with the first installation of its fire, mould and moisture resistant flooring products in Calgary. Pinkwood has acquired the proven I-joist technology developed by Nascor Ltd and is now combining it with their patented protective coating to produce PinkJoists™.

The company announced they will be giving back to the community by donating one cent for every lineal foot of material sold to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, Prairies/NWT Region (the Foundation), and today presented the Foundation with a $10,000 cheque as a gesture of goodwill.

PinkWood has developed a water-based, non-toxic protective wood coating which when exposed to flame creates an endothermic reaction that greatly increases ignition time and slows the spread of fire. The coating also prevents the growth of mould on lumber and acts as protective barrier reducing moisture absorption and improving exterior weatherability, particularly during the construction phase of the home.

"Our goal for this product was to create safer, healthier homes with no additional cost to the purchaser," said James Lind, President, PinkWood. "We also wanted to make a difference in the community and we can't think of a better way to raise awareness for a great cause than with an eye catching product, and by sharing our proceeds with the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, Prairies/NWT Region."

"As soon as we heard about this innovative product we knew it would be a good fit for our company," said Ryan Armstrong, Director of Operations, Greenboro Homes. "Our goal at Greenboro is to build homes that owners will be proud of which includes building with the best available materials to provide home owners with a strong, stable and secure home. Utilizing the PinkWood flooring is another way that we will continue to achieve a greater standard of excellence with our homes."

"We were delighted when PinkWood approached us with this product and are pleased to join them as they celebrate their first installation," says Heidi Bedard, VP, Business Development, Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, Prairies/NWT Region. "The visual effect of their pink floor product is terrific, and the awareness this product will bring to the Foundation is phenomenal. We are looking forward to a strong partnership with PinkWood."

PinkWood products have met all the categorization criteria set out by The Canadian Environmental Protection Act and have been screened by the Minister of the Environment and the Minister of Health.
