Roanoke Cement Company's Front Royal terminal was honored last month by parent company, Titan America, LLC for its outstanding safety record. The terminal, located three hours north of Roanoke in Front Royal, VA, has been injury-free for 10 years.
The cement terminal receives cement product via railcar and then distributes it to Roanoke Cement Company customers located in the Shenandoah Valley, Northern Virginia and surrounding areas.
The Front Royal terminal permits customers to obtain efficient delivery of product. "We are very proud of our people for achieving this safety milestone," says Don Ingerson, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. The industrial site has successfully prevented injury and mishaps to employees through a comprehensive system of training, "best practices" and a "safety first" philosophy at the company.
"The Front Royal terminal has been incident-free since the construction phase and throughout its history of operations," says David Brinkley, Director of Logistics. An ongoing safety incentive program rewards employees with celebratory events and gifts for clean safety records.
Ingerson presented the safety award to Dwayne Whited, Terminal Manager, and Adam Harley, Terminal Operator, with their families present for the 10-year achievement. "I stress, Total Involvement To Achieve No-injuries (TITAN) in our workplace," says Whited. The award ceremony and dinner was held at the Hotel Strasburg, in Strasburg, VA on July 28.
