Sonoco (NYSE: SON), one of the largest diversified global packaging companies, has agreed to handle European packaging requirements for Henkel’s consumer adhesive products from Sonoco’s service center in Wroclaw, Poland.
“Our packaging services relationship with Sonoco dates back to 2007, and we’re very confident in the capabilities and services they provide,” said Ralf Heumann, corporate director of International Supply Chain, Consumer Adhesives. “This strategic partnership with Sonoco will allow us to more effectively serve our European markets for adhesives and sealants through consolidation and standardization.
“We currently rely on several vendors to supply our packaging services, and our goal is to improve the efficiency of those operations by selecting a partner with the proven capabilities, resources and experience to manage the bulk of that business for us,” Heumann said. “Sonoco has demonstrated that it’s capable of doing that.”
Henkel is headquartered in Dusseldorf, Germany, and serves leading brands in three principal business areas: laundry and home care, cosmetics and toiletries, and adhesives and sealants primarily used in the consumer and craftsmen home repair market.
Chris Hill, director of European Business Development for Sonoco’s Packaging Services, said the Company’s commitment to exceptional customer service, its ability to customize and expand packaging services for customers as needed, and its experience and reach globally make Sonoco a good fit for Henkel. “Our business model is one that focuses strictly on the customer – providing them with customized packing services and reliably meeting their needs,” he said. “Our model is cost effective, it’s adaptable to various geographies around the world, and the startup time is very reasonable.”
