Paragon Airheater Technologies, the fastest-growing manufacturer of high-performance seals and basketed elements for rotary regenerative airheaters, announced today the Huaneng Group has made a second Paragon High Performance Solution fleet installation for its Qinbei Power Plant.

The Paragon High Performance Solutions installed at Qinbei Power Plant will improve plant efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.
Paragon’s unique, high performance sealing solutions are specially designed to provide maximum efficiency while withstanding the harsh operating conditions normally encountered in an airheater. Paragon’s exclusive and patented design for both radial and circumferential/bypass seals surpass the original equipment manufacturer standards by providing full-contact flexible seals that minimize leakage, and maximize performance and durability of an airheater. Prevention of air preheater leakage can alleviate a host of other ills for plant operators including degradation of air pollution equipment, reducing the risk of fires and explosions, reducing the production of NOx, and reducing cold end air preheater basket corrosion.
Qinbei Power Plant of the Huaneng Power Group is pleased with the preliminary post-installation performance results of Paragon’s High Performance sealing solution. The China Power Energy Resource Institute, an independent company, completed performance testing and found that Paragon high performance seals have reduced air leakage by over 50%.
The regenerative airheater on a large utility boiler accounts for about 10% of a unit’s thermal efficiency. The airheater is a critical, yet often overlooked, component of the boiler combustion air system. Evaluating and optimizing airheater performance is difficult given how inter-related it is with overall plant performance. Reducing leakage by using Paragon’s patented high performance seals technology will improve combustion efficiency, help maintain fan performance, and keep downstream air quality control equipment operating within specifications.
