Atlas Copco Buys Cirmac International

Atlas Copco Nederland B.V. (STO:ATCOA) (STO:ATCOB) has today acquired Cirmac International B.V., a company specialized in biogas upgrading systems for the renewable energy industry and in gas treatment systems for the oil, gas and chemical industries.

Cirmac designs, markets and services systems that upgrade biogas to natural gas. The upgraded biogas, also known as green gas or biomethane, is a highly sustainable form of renewable energy and can be supplied to the natural-gas grid or used as transport fuel. The company also designs, markets and services gas purification and nitrogen generation systems for the oil, gas and (petro) chemical industries, both onshore and offshore.

“Cirmac brings innovative solutions in the important fields of gas treatment and biogas upgrading systems to Atlas Copco,“ says Stephan Kuhn, Business Area President, Atlas Copco Compressor Technique. “With this acquisition we can extend our offer of sustainable solutions.”

Cirmac was established in 1979 and has its head office in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands. The company employs 42 people and had a turnover in 2009 of MEUR 14 (MSEK 127). It will be a part of Atlas Copco’s Oil-free Air Division in the Compressor Technique Business Area.
