Freudenberg-NOK to Present Study Results on Advanced Materials at 2010 Rubber Expo

As part of its overarching commitment to cutting-edge research and development activities, Freudenberg-NOK General Partnership will present the results of a 10-year study on how different adhesives impact the performance of molded elastomeric components and also discuss its research on computer modeling techniques for predicting rubber flow at the 2010 Rubber Expo and Technical Meeting opening today in Milwaukee, Wis.

Freudenberg-NOK, widely considered an industry leader in the area of advanced materials development and application, will present these findings during two different conference sessions at the conference. The company is a global producer of elastomeric seals, lubricants and custom molded products.

"Freudenberg-NOK is committed to anticipating, understanding and meeting our customers' needs through constant innovation," said Joe Walker, director of material development for Freudenberg-NOK. "A critical part of that commitment involves ongoing, advanced research and development activities that lead to better, more efficient and effective materials applications and solutions for all of the industries we represent – aerospace, automotive, chemical processing, health care, agriculture, semiconductor, general industrial, heavy industry and appliance."

Oon Hock Yeoh, an engineering fellow with Freudenberg-NOK, will present his research on computer modeling techniques for strongly shear-thinning materials at a 3:30 p.m. session at the Expo and Technical Conference today.  Michael Moore, a senior chemical specialist for Freudenberg-NOK, will unveil research findings that document how different adhesives used to bond elastomeric seals to metal potentially impact the performance of the seal once the adhesive has been heated and cured on Thursday, Oct. 14 at 10:15 a.m.

"These technical presentations showcase the kinds of advanced materials research and development challenges we pursue every day on behalf of our customers," said Walker. "Innovation and industry leadership are moving targets, and Freudenberg-NOK is constantly engaged in activities that will help our customers successfully incorporate new developments and change."
