Exova Offers On-Site Microscopy Testing Services

Exova, the global testing and advisory business has expanded its metallurgy testing services to include on-site microscopy testing.

This expansion boosts the engineering consultancy provided to many of the world's leading companies in areas such as corrosion, materials selection and welding engineering.

Exova has 110 technical centres across the globe and an international network of facilities that offer on-site testing services that covers various industrial sectors including: power plant boilers and turbines, oil refineries, petrochemical and process plants, offshore oil and gas, aerospace and pharmaceuticals.

Exova offers on-site testing for a wide range of materials including low alloy steels, super duplex stainless steels, nickel-base alloys and aluminum alloys, etc.

As part of continued investment, Exova, is introducing an on-site scanning force microscopy service throughout its sites in Europe, including UK, Norway, Netherlands, Sweden and Italy.

This service provides instant results of a component's level of damage and detects, for example, creep cavitations area or volume and nano level creep, fatigue, corrosion damage and precipitates.

Dr Iltal Hussain, divisional manager of forensic metallurgy at Exova said: "Exova is renowned as a market leader through its continued investment in innovative technology and advanced facilities. The expansion of our metallurgy on-site testing is a further demonstration of Exova enhancing our service offerings to our many clients around the globe.

"The metallurgical testing services we offer ensure that every material within a component or product meets its requirements in order to provide the required performance in the market place. The new on-site microscopy testing service allows us to detect and quantify component damage and predict their life at a much earlier stage than is currently possible."

Exova has a highly qualified team of metallurgists, mechanical engineers and corrosion specialists with experience in the analysis of industrial component failures.

This new microscopy testing service enhances Exova's on-site capabilities which includes non-destructive evaluation, positive materials identification, ferritescope, replication, hardness testing, portable hardness testing, metallographic, witness welder qualification, expert witness services, metallurgical consultancy services, plant life assessment, stress analysis and risk based maintenance.

As well as metallurgy testing, Exova ensures companies meet economic, legislative, and environmental requirements when testing complex materials in a number of sectors from aerospace to automotive, pharmaceuticals to polymers, and food to fire safety.
