DEMILEC (USA) has partnered with Seal Tite Spray Foam to insulate retired United States Army Sergeant Jorge DeLeon's new home as part of Operation Welcome Home.
DEMILEC (USA) has donated its SEALECTION® 500 spray foam insulation, while Seal Tite Spray Foam, located in Victoria, TX, donated the labor to make Sgt. DeLeon's dream a reality.
Jorge joined U.S. Army in 2001 after eight years on the police force in Puerto Rico. On his fourth deployment to Afghanistan in April 2004, Jorge and his unit were on their way back to camp after a patrol through the region. Jorge was driving a Humvee, the lead vehicle of the convoy when it ran over an anti-tank mine. Having taken the full brunt of the mine, Jorge was the only one injured in the explosion. He lost his right leg immediately in the explosion and his left leg was severely injured.
He underwent a long recovery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and now wears a computer-controlled prosthetic leg.
Jorge resides in Texas with his wife and three young children. He was selected by Bay Area Builders Association Support Our Troops to receive the new home.
Since his recovery, Jorge has helped raise awareness and inspired other wounded veterans to remain hopeful, even in times of extreme distress and isolation. Jorge’s story is one of perseverance that can be a model for those going through similar situations.
"When I was first contacted by Tilson Homes about this project, they hadn't even finished telling me how big the home was or even the location before I had volunteered to donate our services," said Matt Lively, Owner, Seal Tite Spray Foam. " The men and women of our military give so much for our country that I was proud to have Seal-Tite a part of Sgt. Deleon's new home."
Sgt. DeLeon's 3,029 sq. ft. home will be built by Tilson homes in Canyon Lake, TX, just outside of Houston. The home is scheduled to be completed before Thanksgiving at which point Sgt. DeLeon and his family will be able to move into their much deserved new home, just in time to celebrate the holidays.
Sgt. DeLeon's home is insulated with SEALECTION® 500 spray foam insulation. SEALECTION® 500 is a semi-rigid spray foam insulation that is noted for its energy-efficiency, financial savings and ability to create a clean, comfortable and quiet in-home environment. SEALECTION® 500 creates an airtight seal in building walls and attics by expanding to up to 120 times its liquid volume. The expansion fills cracks, gaps and hollow spaces to prevent moisture, dust, allergens, pollens and noise from traveling between rooms.
“The DeLeon family will be able to count on lower utility bills because our insulation is extremely energy-efficient," said Dave Lall, Vice President & General Manger, DEMILEC (USA) LLC. "In effect, our products will serve them in the short term as part of the effort to get them back on their feet, and in the long term by making their home less expensive to heat and cool, and by creating a healthier, cleaner environment.”
