Technical Foam Services, a leading independent engineering-biased manufacturer and foam producer, have recently completed a major contract with a video game developer.
The £60,000 contract began when a globally-successful brand in the home entertainment market contacted Technical Foam Services with an urgent problem. After the CD-based game had been imported from the Far East, it was discovered the packaging already used was insufficient for safe shipping throughout Europe.
The company contacted Technical Foam Services on Friday 12th November, with the game’s December 1st launch date looming. Technical Foam Services immediately identified a suitable grade of closed cell foam and subsequently manufactured, converted and delivered 400,000 square metres (enough to fill six trucks) to the game’s distributers’ UK warehouse in time for the Thursday 25th November deadline.
This then allowed the customer to repack the games at the warehouse over the weekend of 27th and 28th November, in time for the original December 1st launch date.
“This incredibly short turnaround for such a large volume of foam is testament to the commitment of our production team, who worked incredibly long hours to fulfill this requirement,” says Duncan Geddes of Technical Foam Services. “This was an all-hands on contract, and it was imperative that we provided the best foam and the speediest delivery we could, to ensure the game was released on time and people were not left disappointed. We are proud of our staff for producing such excellent work at such short notice, and wish everyone involved with the game the best success.”
