AK Steel Selects Shaw Group for Maintenance and Engineering Services

The Shaw Group Inc. (NYSE: SHAW) today announced it has been selected by AK Steel to provide maintenance and reliability engineering services to the company’s Rockport Works steel processing facility in southwest Indiana. Shaw will begin work on the five-year master service agreement in March 2011.

“We are excited to embark on this new agreement, which brings Shaw’s proven safety-focused, comprehensive performance to this state-of-the-art steel processing facility,” said J.M. Bernhard Jr., Shaw’s chairman, president and chief executive officer.

The undisclosed value of the contract will be included in Shaw’s Plant Services segment’s backlog of unfilled orders in the second quarter of fiscal year 2011.

Shaw executes plant maintenance, modifications, engineering and support services for industry-leading clients in the nuclear, fossil, chemical, petrochemical, manufacturing and refining markets. Shaw has continuous, multi-site presence in more than 55 sites across the U.S., including the country’s two largest nuclear power fleets.
