MOD-PAC’s Paperboard Packaging Facility in New York Receives Chain-of-Custody Certification

MOD-PAC CORP. (NASDAQ: MPAC) (the “Company”), a manufacturer of custom and stock paper board packaging and provider of personalized print products, announced today that as part of its continued commitment to environmental responsibility that it has earned chain-of-custody (CoC) certification from both the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI(R)) and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) for its paperboard packaging facility located in Buffalo, NY.

These two independent organizations represent the leading global forestry certification bodies and provide standards requiring third-party validation of a plant's documented processes and CoC monitoring system. CoC certification outlines requirements for tracking certified material from the forest to the final product to ensure that the wood contained in the product or product line originates from certified forests and organizations with forestry practices that integrate the perpetual growing and harvesting of trees with the protection of wildlife, plants, soils, and water.

Additionally, MOD-PAC’s Buffalo facility has been certified to SFI(R)'s fiber sourcing procurement requirements, which requires program participants to show that the raw material in their supply chain comes from legal and responsible sources, whether the forests are certified or not.
