Samsung Electronics Inks Deal with Air Products for Gaseous Nitrogen Supply

Air Products, a supplier of performance materials, specialty gases and equipment, signs a gaseous nitrogen supply contract with Samsung Electronics. Under the terms of the agreement, the company will deliver nitrogen to Samsung’s facilities in the Hwaseong-Giheung, South Korea.

In accordance with the contract and for timely delivery, Air Products makes a long-term investment to construct a new nitrogen facility in the Hwaseong-Giheung area. The company will also install underground pipelines for supplying gaseous nitrogen to Samsung Electronics’ fabs. The new plant is expected to start operations in 2012. In addition, the company will build liquid nitrogen backup and purification systems. This is an important investment for the company to meet the needs of Samsung’s expansion plans in Korea.

Electronics for Air Products’ VP and General Manager quotes that Samsung Electronics continues to be a strategic customer for the company. He says that this partnership will position Air Products as a reliable supplier for Samsung.
