Trelleborg Sealing Solutions, manufacturer and supplier of precision seals, announced that it has set a new benchmark by developing a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) based sealing material called Turcon M12. The material can perform extremely well in all hydraulic applications.
The Turcon M12 has gone through a wide range of tests to compare its key sealing parameters with best-in-class compounds. The tests were performed in the research and development laboratories in Indiana, U.S. and Stuttgart, Germany. Test results suggested Turcon M12 as a preferred material of choice for various hydraulic applications.
Several tests conducted on the Turcon M12 showed that the material resists all media as well as wide range of lubricants. In addition, it possesses exceptional resistance against wear, friction and high-pressure hydraulic sealing characteristics.
The Turcon M12 is a cost-effective material and extends seal life. It operates in wide velocity, temperature and pressure ranges and is suitable for harsh environment applications. It prevents impairment to counter surfaces and reduces hardware abrasion. It has excellent resistance to extrusion. Since the TFE-based sealing material does not have bronze fillers, it produces less environmental impact.
Holger Jordan, Head of German-based R&D department at Trelleborg, stated that the Turcon M12 sealing material performs better on every factor compared to other compounds. He added that the PTFE-based sealing material has surpassed the company’s expectations and believes that it is truly an unrivalled material that virtually fits all hydraulic applications.
