Oman Cement to Upgrade its Cement Production Facility

Oman Cement, second largest cement manufacturer in the Sultanate of Oman, proclaimed that it will upgrade its major cement plant by investing $37.57 million.

The company has selected ERCOM Consulting Engineers India as the project consultant.

CNBM International Engineering of China has received a contract valued at $28.99 million from Oman Cement to upgrade the three-decade old clinker unit. The renovation is anticipated to be completed by 2012 February end. Once the upgrading of the facility’s Line 1 is completed, the production capacity would increase to 2,700 tons per day from its current level of 2,000 tons per day.

As part of the investment, Oman Cement has also awarded a contract worth $8.58 million to Sino Environment Engineering Development of China to modernize the current pollution control device on Line 1 to attain an emission range of below 10 mg/ nm3. This upgrading is expected to be completed by the end of January 2012.
