DMT Plasticolor to Distribute Cereplast Bio-Plastic Resins in Croatia

Cereplast, producer of patented bio-based, degradable and eco-friendly plastics, declared that it has signed a distribution accord with DMT Plasticolor to provide Cereplast bioplastic material to the Croatian market.

The accord will enable DMT Plasticolor to become an exclusive distributor of Cereplast Sustainables Resins and Cereplast Compostables Resins for Croatia-based product and package producers. The bioplastic resins manufactured from algae, corn, potatoes, tapioca and wheat will allow DMT Plasticolor to provide a viable substitute to the currently utilized plastic products. The company will utilize the Compostable 3000 film grade to manufacture bio-plastic films that can be used for food packaging. The bio-plastic film can be manufactured by utilizing current blown film extrusion machines and are formulated to have stiffness and balance of puncture intensity.

The Compostable 3000 is a proprietary formulation of Cereplast and includes BASF’s copolyester and Ingeo PLA. According to the deal, the company will supply 100 tons of Cereplast resin every month for a period of one year.
