Specialist in thermoset resins, Momentive Specialty Chemicals has unveiled a new series of waterborne, 1K, storage-stable epoxy phenolic co-dispersions that exhibit high glass transition temperature, film flexibility and adhesion properties.
The coatings were displayed at the 2011 European Coatings Show, which was conducted from 29 to 31 March 2011 in Nuremberg, Germany.
The new line of waterborne co-dispersions is free from volatile organic compounds and enhances the functionalities of baked industrial coatings on wires, abrasives, drum liners and pipes that demand optimum thermal, solvent and chemical resistance.
The waterborne coatings can be used as an adhesion promoter, binder or surface treatment as they provide better adhesion and wetting to metal substrates. During application, the epoxy-phenolic co-dispersion combines to produce a continuous, transparent film, which is then baked to form a strong, cross-linked film that exhibit better chemical resistance.
Momentive Specialty Chemicals offers numerous compositions of waterborne co-dispersions of phenolic novolac resin and epoxy resin that exhibit different performance properties. At present, the company has released two co-dispersion products called EPI-REZ System 4210-W-60 and EPI-REZ System 4110-W-55.
