Polymer Group to Expand Spunmelt Production Capacity in South America and China

Developer and supplier of nonwovens and engineered materials, Polymer Group has declared its plans to invest in new, modern spunmelt production operations in China and South America to strengthen its footprint in these emerging industries.

As per the plans, Polymer Group will install a pilot and customized, modern spunmelt equipment line at its existing facility in Suzhou, China. The facility is expected to begin commercial production by mid-half of 2012. The company will deploy greenfield with multi-line expansion capability in southern China by the end of 2012 and a greenfield deployment in central Brazil in the beginning of 2013.

Polymer Group plans to install a third spunmelt production line at its facility located in Cali, Colombia, where it is a leading firm in the Andean Pact Market. The new capacity expansion will use proven technologies and equipment along with patented technological advancements to produce various materials for applications, including drapes, medical gowns, adult incontinence and baby diapers.

The Chief Executive Officer of Polymer Group, Veronica "Ronee" Hagen, commented that the company is happy about the investment plans in the southern China and Brazilian markets.
