DSM Functional Materials, a business unit of Royal DSM N.V., has extended its relationship with Corning, producer of specialty glass and ceramics, by entering into a new, multi-year agreement to supply advanced DeSolite coatings for producing optical fiber products.
The DeSolite optical fiber coating formulations from DSM provide outstanding protection in network deployments. These coatings are utilized in various single-fiber and multi-fiber cables. Some of them include ribbon, loose tube, tight buffer and slotted core cables.
The combination of DeSolite coating formulations and sophisticated process technology from Corning offers enhanced protection of optical fibers such as tolerance to microbending and low attenuation.
Corning Optical Fiber’s VP and Director of Worldwide Marketing, Barry Linchuck stated that DSM’s advanced coating formulations play a major role in the production and performance of the company’s CPC coated optical fibers.
Senior Business Director of Functional Materials at DSM, Rob Crowell stated that the combination of DSM’s expertise in coating formulations and Corning’s optical fiber processing capabilities delivers reliable and robust products to network operators.
