Cascades, a specialist in consumer product packaging, industrial packaging and specialty papers, has introduced a new machine for moulded pulp products production at its Forma-Pak plant in Kingsey Falls city, Quebec, Canada.
The inauguration has been done by Alain Lemaire, President and CEO, and Mario Plourde, COO of the company.
The project has been started in 2010 and in addition to the new machine, automation of existing machines was also carried out. The company had invested more than $3.5 million for the modernization of the Quebec-based plant. Cascades has fully redesigned the plant to house more machines and enhance their efficiency. This initiative will boost the production capacity of Cascades Forma-Pak facility by 40%. The upgrade of the facility has resulted in considerable benefits in product quality, particularly in packaging and finishing.
Forma-Pak plant, which produces eco-friendly food packaging products, uses aged telephone directories and newspapers for the production of moulded pulp materials that are 100% recyclable. These materials are expected to have increasing demand in the future mostly in the packaging industry.
