Exotic Electro-Optics (EEO), an established supplier of innovative coatings, infrared optics and assemblies for defense, aerospace and commercial markets, has announced that a new, enhanced Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating has been developed. This is an enhanced version of the company’s existing DLC coating.
The engineering and production capabilities of Exotic Electro-Optics support visible and infrared optics and optical assemblies for use in Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) purposes. The optical assemblies and optics are frequently subjected to harsh environments. To overcome these issues, the company’s expertise in infrared optical production ability and reliable coating solutions are utilized.
The new DLC coating increases the durability of wiper blades from 5,000 to more than 40,000 revolutions. The coating is suitable for germanium substrates that are exposed externally and for other Long Wave Infrared (LWIR) uses.
Evan Lundstedt, Programs and Business Development Director at Exotic Electro-Optics, said that the new development signifies the company’s ongoing efforts in R&D and the drive to enhance its capabilities.
