An integrated refractory producer, Magnesita Refratários has received another Cost Per Performance (CPP) contract from Gerdau Ameristeel, a specialty long steel producer and supplier, for managing the entire refractory needs of Gerdau’s steel mill located in Sayreville, New Jersey.
This is the ninth CPP order to be secured by Magnesita from Gerdau in North America. The contract, worth $4.5 million, has been signed for five years.
Magnesita will deliver refractory solutions for the steel ladles, electric arc furnace and uninterrupted casting operations at Sayreville mill. The unique CPP model enables the company to manage the complete refractory process and to supply high-quality products to Gerdau’s facility. In order to enhance process conditions and offer management visibility, tailored tracking equipment and steelmaking technology are utilized. Magnesita’s CPP model has become a strategic initiative among major facilities, as it increases productivity, reduces steelmaking costs and allows new innovation and growth.
Magnesita expressed its happiness to continue its relationship with Gerdau Ameristeel. Magnesita will help increase the overall productivity at Gerdau’s Sayreville steel mill by maximizing refractory usage, equipment use and energy consumption. The company will also help reduce steelmaking costs.
