Honeywell Resins and Chemicals has announced the launch of Aegis H95XC Gen II Resin. This new formulation expands the Aegis line of nylon 6 resins and is mainly designed for fishing applications.
The key features required in fishing nets and lines are maximum elongation, strength, flexibility and transparency. The H95XC Gen II Resin meets these requirements. Transparency is required for fishing nets and lines for clear view in underwater. The elongation feature is needed to eliminate knot slippage and the high strength does not allow the nets or lines to get damaged under heavy loads. The fishing nets and lines can be stored, folded, handled and spread easily if they are soft and flexible.
The formulation already includes performance additives, which eliminate the cost and time needed to blend the materials for better results. The resin has been developed at Honeywell’s Shanghai technology center and the company has joined with local manufacturers who deal in transforming copolymer or nylon resin into fibers and filaments utilized for fishing line and net production.
The Aegis H95XC Gen II Resin was manufactured based on customers’ input to meet their requirements in terms of material attributes and production. Honeywell has employed innovative quantitative testing methods for determining and proving the performance of the resin in terms of softness and transparency. The company has planned to start mass production of the Aegis H95XC Gen II Resin in 3Q of 2011.
