Nordson declared that it has inked a deal to purchase Constructiewerkhuizen G. Verbruggen, a Temse, Belgium-based producer of coextrusion equipment and flat dies for the flexible packaging market.
The conditions of the deal were not revealed. The deal is anticipated to be completed shortly. Constructiewerkhuizen G. Verbruggen, which has 40 workers, will now operate under the Adhesive Dispensing Systems segment of Nordson. The company’s projected sales for the current fiscal year is €8 million.
Nordson anticipates that the acquisition will not affect the earnings of the company in the initial year of operation. Multi- or single-layered, easily flexible materials such as paper sheeting, foil, plastic and film are used for producing flexible packaging such as pouches, wraps, bags and other packaging solutions. Flexible packaging can easily be sealed and filled. It is utilized in several industries such as pharmaceuticals, beauty and health, food and beverage, amongst others.
The President and Chief Executive Officer at Nordson, Michael F. Hilton commented that the acquisition of Verbruggen facilitates the entry of Nordson into the flexible packaging industry and complements the company’s dominance in rigid packaging applications. As flexible packaging continues to expand globally, Nordson’s worldwide presence coupled with Verbruggen’s unique technology will allow Nordson to grab new opportunities.
